- Garnered over $112 million a year in the California State Assembly for gang prevention programs including "before and after school" initiatives.
- Introduced the motion that funded the Advancement Project, a report that studies the city's past and current approaches to solving the gang crisis.
- Introduced the motion that funded the City Controller's report on the effectiveness of gang programs within city departments.
- Joined Congressman Bobby Scott at the United States Capitol to rally for the Youth Promise Act.
